Sustainable finishing technologies
We are continuously redefining the limits of surface finishing. A wide range of inline solutions are used to produce efficient
results with maximum visual impact. These inline effects also contribute to cost-efficient replacements for less sustainable methods and materials.
For this reason we continuously invest in the latest ''green chic'' technologies. As specialists in lean and ecofriendly production, we give our customers a stronger competitive edge.

Our printing & finishing processes
Our standard packaging is produced using offset printing. We can apply up to ten colors and three different varnishes in a single pass with the flexo printing method. Corresponding to the final product, we use low-migration and food-grade inks and varnishes. All varnishes can be specially adapted for a spectrum of finishes, ranging from high-gloss to matt. Special UV-hardened ink systems are used for non-absorbent coated materials.
At our site in Poznan we combine flexo- with offset-, gravure- and screen printingaccording to requirements. This technology is perfectly suited for the production of finished blanks with a huge diversity of assortment and finishing. Besides paper and carton we can convert PET or PE as well.
Coding individual labels on packaging requires a coordinated data handling workflow between hardware, software and infrastructure. Using a special technology, high-resolution codes (1D, 2D, OCR, barcodes) are displayed visibly or invisibly by means of sheet coding. Combined with today's smartphone technology, the codes can be used for gray market monitoring, consumer marketing or authenticity checks.
Adapting a selected area in the print image during the last production step enables individualized or even personalized packaging. Late-stage customization combines the production of large, partially finished offset print runs with the customization options of digital printing − to ensure maximum efficiency. The technology is in line with the current product trend of personalization and promotes emotional brand engagement with customers.
Classic hot-foil finishing is a simple, efficient way to add value to a product's appearance. Foil printing is often used for logos or decorative elements. Although shiny silver and gold are most common, hot-foil finishes are available in all colors, as well as in transparent and matt variations.
Cold foil is applied inline for a cost-efficient finishing technique with a wide range of creative applications. Additional offset colors can be printed on top to create a variety of metallic tones. rlc also combines cold foil and laser gloss inline for finishes that are guaranteed eyecatchers.
Micro embossing is a hot foil method, from which special holographic effects on your packaging result:
With a change of the viewing angle the light is broken differently because of finely surface deformations of the hot stamping foil. This impact, which can also be combined with other finishing types, achieves ultimate attention.
Multisensory effects are made possible by two coordinated finishing systems. Customizing these effects for different branding elements adds value to a product. UV technology creates the best results.
Laser gloss is a cast & cure effect used to create reflective accents on different areas of the packaging in order to enhance the overall visual impact. This remarkably vibrant finish supports the impulse to buy at point of sale.
Customers can choose from partial, full-surface or specific applications for flexible design options that meet their individual needs. Laser gloss effect is produced using cost-efficient and eco-friendly inline printing processes.
Gloss texture gives packaging an attractive reflective surface. This innovative finish causes light to bounce off the surface differently at each vantage point. Unlike similar embossed finishes, gloss texture is applied inline.
In classic mother-of-pearl iriodin finishing, different particle sizes create unique luster and color effects ranging from shimmering silk to glittery.
rlc creates this exciting 3-D look and feel effect by combining two finishing components. The application creates a surface that is similar to oxidized metal or plastics.
Liquid metal is an eco-friendly alternative to foil-laminated cardboard with a similar brilliance. This "green chic" technology can be applied partially or over entire surfaces. Its production uses fewer materials and has shorter cycle times.
Enticing scented varnish creates packaging that appeals to all the senses and increases consumer anticipation about the packaging's contents. The varnish is applied outright or in encapsulated form, which releases the scent when the area is rubbed. Custom scents are optinal.
